Disability before disability (2018-2021): A project initiated in 2017 and located at the University of Iceland exploring what constituted disability in Icelandic society, culture, and history before the establishment of disability as a modern legal, bureaucratic, and administrative concept. My post-doctoral research (2018-2021) was funded by and operated within the scope of this project.
Paranormal Encounters in Iceland (2012-2014): A project engaged with definitions of the paranormal (supernatural, occult) in medieval Iceland. Various sources were consulted, such as sagas of Icelanders, Sturlunga saga, bishops’ sagas, the Eddas and legendary sagas. My PhD research was funded by and operated within the scope of this project.
Preserving the Most Precious Heirloom (2023-2025): A project focusing on the history of Icelandic language publishing in Manitoba, Canada.
The Sunshine Children (2021-2023): A project focused on exploring North American-Icelandic culture and history through a collection of letters published in the North American Icelandic-language children’s newspaper Sólskin (Sunshine) between 1915-1918.
What we talk about when we talk about Vínland (2017-2020): A project focused on modern cultural and historical traditions concerning the early Norse presence in what is now Newfoundland and Labrador.
W.I. (Bill) Hann World War II Digital Archive (2024-2025): This project focused on photos, letters, newspaper clippings, and other archival material related to my grandfather W.I. (Bill) Hann’s service and experiences during the Second World War. It culminated in the creation of a digital archive.
